Supported Living Team Leader

Liz ensures that all individuals receive high-quality, person-centred care. With experience supporting the long-term unemployed and ex-prisoners, Liz has a passion for enhancing quality of life and providing engaging support.

As a Supported Living Team Leader, Liz assesses competencies and ensures a high standard of person-centred care. Liz also visits clients in their homes to review care delivery, and audits care plans and risks.

How long have you been at Unity Plus?

I have been with Unity Plus since June 2024.

Tell us about your career history?

Before joining Unity Plus, I worked as a Registered Nurse Associate in a locked mental health facility, where I also trained and practised as a DBT Therapist.

My career has spanned a range of roles, including a Practice Nurse with a focus on complex wound care, Secondary School Teacher and Head of Department, In-House Trainer for Mental Health Support Workers, First Aid Trainer, and Prevent Lead.

I’ve also supported the long-term unemployed and ex-prisoners by delivering NVQ qualifications to help them upskill and reintegrate.

What qualifications do you hold?

• Degree in Cultural Studies & Critical Thinking
• Master’s in Postmodern Philosophy
• Foundation Degree in Nursing
• PGCE in Secondary Education
• Various vocational qualifications

Liz’s Responsibilities

I support both the Registered Manager and the Clinical Operations Manager in overseeing staff teams. My role involves conducting audits, staff supervision, and assessing competencies.

I problem-solve around care-related issues, attend MDT meetings, and liaise with external professionals to ensure a high standard of person-centred care.

How do you feel your role supports Unity’s mission?

My role ensures that the individuals we support receive high-quality, person-centred care. By maintaining standards through audits and team support, I help Unity Plus deliver the best possible service. I work to foster a harmonious and efficient environment among staff, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for those in our care.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy crochet and knitting, and I’m an avid gardener— I grow some of my own fruit and vegetables, which I love to cook with. I also enjoy travelling, live music, and exploring alternative therapies.

Interesting fact: I am a certified Reiki Master.
