Taiba Qamar

Group Operations Manager

Taiba initially trained as a Manager and Regional Manager in the retail industry, changing career four years ago to join a care home provider as their Deputy Manager.

Taiba quickly found a real passion for working with older people and has taken this passion into her role with Unity Plus, ensuring that anybody who is recruited to our team has our values at heart and is not just another body.

Taiba has taken her team’s development to new heights and is responsible for all recruitment and shift coverage so that we can focus on recruiting the correct people for the right services.

Eugenia | Unity Plus

How long have you been at Unity Plus?

I’ve been at Unity Plus since November 2022.

Tell us about your career history?

I spent 15 years with the same employer, as a store manager and then a satellite manager, coaching and mentoring store managers. I was responsible for recruitment, compliance, and rota management, all skills that have assisted me in my role with Unity Plus.

However, it was the COVID pandemic that changed my life, as COVID hit, rather than taking furlough from my post, I decided to do what I could to help out, I started working as a Training & Operations Coordinator in a Nursing Home and loved the experience so much that within a couple of months I was asked to be Deputy Manager the home. I did this for two years before I was introduced to Unity Plus by another Nursing Home Manager.

When I spoke with the team at Unity Plus, I realised my values mirrored theirs, and this synergy excited me. I realised that joining the Unity team would allow us to develop together, and I would have a direct impact on improving the lives of many people.

What qualifications do you hold?

4 A Levels

Taiba’s Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate daily operations across Unity Plus. In particular, improving operational processes and procedures.

Lead teams to drive performance, ensuring high-quality service delivery aligned with people’s needs, and manage key functions like recruitment and compliance.

Translate strategy into action and champion the company’s core “Supporting You To Achieve” philosophy, effectively functioning as the CEO’s trusted ‘Number 2’.

How does your role support Unity Plus’ mission?

My role provides the essential operational foundation for Unity Plus’s mission and vision. Our focus on improving processes, managing compliance, and enhancing efficiency directly ensures the high-quality support that is central to the mission.

By creating smooth, reliable operations and effective systems (like our new app and overseeing other providers’ portals), I empower front-line teams to deliver truly personalised support, foster independence, and help individuals achieve their potential, key elements of the mission.

Supporting staff development is essential in everything I do, ensuring the team is well-equipped to support the people they work with to live fulfilling, independent lives, thereby realising the company vision.

What are your hobbies?

Anything to do with Harry Potter, teasing all of the team at Unity Plus, and making sure the senior team members are always kept on their toes.

Interesting fact: Others believe I am a witch. I can influence events that result in positive things happening for others.

Why should healthcare professionals work with Unity Plus?

We are run by clinicians. Our senior team has a wealth of experience working in and managing care homes and hospitals.

We understand your needs, and put the needs of you and the people you support above profits. We strongly believe that money follows quality, and our aim is to give the best quality of service we can. As long as we adhere to this philosophy, we will ultimately benefit in the long term.

We don’t aim to be better than everyone else; we strive to be the best we can be. If everyone else does their best too, then the quality of care across the industry will vastly improve, and the most vulnerable people in society will have a much better quality of life.
