Ryan Foster
Corporate Governance Lead
With seven years of experience and an MSc in Psychology, Ryan commenced his Psychology career in 2016 and has worked with people with severe challenging behaviour in the community.
Ryan joined Unity Plus in October 2021 as a Care Services Officer, supporting the Registered Manager on a day-to-day basis. Ryan's penchant for analysis meant that he was always destined to develop himself and his role, and he has now taken on the newly created role of Corporate Governance Lead, ensuring that the company remains focused on its core value of Supporting You to Achieve.

How long have you been at Unity Plus?
I joined Unity Plus in October 2021.
Tell us about your career history?
I came across Unity Plus at a careers fair and had the opportunity to speak with CEO Ross Hodgson, who presented a fantastic opportunity. His vision for a role that would allow me to utilise my existing skills while developing new ones in the care sector resonated with me, leading me to join as a Care Service Officer.
What qualifications do you hold?
– BSc Psychology
– MSc Cognitive Neuroscience
How does your role support Unity Plus’ mission?
My role as Corporate Governance Lead is intrinsically linked to Unity Plus’s core value of “Supporting You to Achieve.”
By ensuring we maintain the highest regulatory standards and continuously improve our processes, I contribute to creating a safe, effective, and well-managed environment for both our service users and our staff.
This robust framework allows our frontline teams to focus on providing excellent care and support, ultimately empowering individuals to achieve their full potential, which is at the heart of Unity Plus’s mission.

What are your hobbies?
My hobbies currently revolve around the demanding yet much-loved needs of my Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Reggie. This includes frequent walks exploring different spots in nature – something I’ve grown to appreciate even more thanks to him. I also enjoy trying out new restaurants and cuisines, a hobby Reggie enthusiastically participates in by ensuring he has made his presence known to everyone when food is around.
Despite Reggie’s sometimes dramatic “RSPCA face” when his needs aren’t met, he is undoubtedly one of the most spoiled dogs in the UK and the primary reason for my increased appreciation of long walks and discovering new places.
I’ve recently caught a bit of a nautical bug, after in my own words “successfully captaining a boat,” albeit a canal boat… There are those who say I have a bit more to learn about ship navigation before testing my credentials at sea, but I’m confident I’ll give this a proper go at some point!
