Our Residents Fund initiative

Unity Plus donates £1 for every shift worked in care homes over a six-month period. This funding goes directly to each care home’s resident fund, ensuring that it can be used for various initiatives, from social events to creating recreational spaces.

Many of our team members have had experience managing and working in care homes and have created the initiative to address the challenges faced by these facilities.

We understand that care homes operate on very tight margins. By contributing to resident funds, we ensure that care home residents benefit directly from our donations, rather than the money being absorbed into the home’s operational budgets.

Yorkshire care homes see the positive impact of our donations

Our donations have enabled care homes to provide unique benefits to meet their residents’ needs. For example, Sunningdale Nursing Home used its funds to purchase a virtual fish tank, creating a calming and engaging environment for its residents. Meanwhile, Hemsworth Park Care Home was able to fund a festive Christmas party, and Malsis Hall has had the opportunity to convert a room into a gym.

Jan Cowie, Chair of the Residents’ Committee at Lister House, met with Customer Relations Manager, Hibat Ur-Rehman, and CEO, Ross Hodgson, to thank Unity Plus for the funds. She explained that the money donated by Unity Plus has been crucial in helping the home deliver bespoke activities for the residents. Jan described that the donations had been used to purchase various items, including running pamper sessions, buying “lots of gin” for them to enjoy, and paying for the residents’ Christmas Party.

Staff at Ings House have also reported that they used their funds to buy all the residents a Christmas present.

Unity Plus’ staff personally deliver cheques every six months, and these visits often include presentations and photo opportunities. Meet our team to find out more about our passionate and dedicated staff.

Our commitment to making a difference

Other charitable initiatives we have been involved with include partnering with Ghana-based charity Race4Aid. The staffing solutions provider donates £1,000 monthly, funding projects such as constructing 12 water wells, paying university tuition fees for aspiring medical and nursing students, and providing food to widows and orphans in rural communities.

These initiatives are about making a real difference. At Unity, we’re passionate about giving back, both locally and globally, and will continue exploring new ways to do so.
