PMVA Training
Our PMVA training course equips health and social care professionals with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to manage challenging behaviours safely and respectfully.
Our team has been through extensive training, and our staff have the knowledge and expertise to deliver engaging sessions.
Supporting safer care environments
At Unity Plus, we prioritise the safety, confidence, and professional development of our agency staff because we know that a well-prepared team is essential to delivering outstanding care. This is why we are proud to offer accredited Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training.
The course is particularly valuable for those working in environments where there is a heightened risk of aggression or violence, such as mental health units, hospitals, care homes, and supported living settings. Our skilled and experienced team will deliver informative and engaging training sessions for your staff.
What is PMVA training?
Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training is a specialised programme designed to equip healthcare and social care professionals with the skills, strategies, and confidence to manage situations involving aggression or potential violence safely. At its core, PMVA training is about promoting safer environments for both care recipients and the professionals who support them.
PMVA goes beyond simply responding to incidents. It provides a comprehensive understanding of why behaviours that challenge may occur and how to prevent escalation through communication, awareness, and early intervention. When intervention is required, the training also covers safe, ethical physical techniques that minimise harm and maintain dignity.
Why PMVA matters in health and social care
PMVA training plays a crucial role in equipping professionals with the insight and skills needed to navigate these situations safely and effectively. By focusing on prevention and practical management, PMVA helps reduce the risk of harm. This supports safer, more positive outcomes for both staff and the people they care for. Working with vulnerable populations requires not only compassion but also specialised skills. We can provide your staff with the knowledge and expertise required to support individuals in a compassionate, professional way.
