We offer a range of live-in care services, including elderly care, complex care, mental health, and vulnerable adults.

Yes, absolutely. Live-in care enables couples to remain together in their own homes, allowing for adjustments to be made and avoiding the distress that can result from separation. In some cases, it can also be a more cost-effective solution than individual rooms in a care home. We understand the importance of a couple wanting to maintain their bond and the comfort this can provide. At Unity Plus, we explore every adjustment that can be made to safely support everyone who needs care and support at the registered address.    

The cost of live-in care can vary due to many factors, mainly the level of support required. While live-in care is typically comparable to care home costs, it offers dedicated one-to-one support and additional benefits, including those included with Unity Plus’ support. We will be happy to go through the process and explore how we can best accommodate your circumstances.

A care plan will detail all the specific care needs that have been assessed, stated or recorded by either our professional team or others.  A care plan will detail things such as daily routine, preferences, communication, health and medication, home maintenance, and finances.

We understand that needs can change at any moment, and all care plans are regularly reviewed and audited, with feedback actively sought from everyone involved. If you feel that any aspect of the care plan isn’t right, alerting one of our team members will ensure that adjustments are made and reflected in the care plans promptly.

We believe in a flexible approach to care. Our service includes a thorough initial assessment to understand individual preferences, needs, and routines. Following this, we collaborate directly with individuals, families, social workers, external professionals and any other significant figures where appropriate. This plan and process are essential to ensure that everyone has their wishes understood, expectations clarified and that everyone’s voice is heard. 

Families are expected to provide the carer with a private, furnished room and access to bathroom facilities, reliable internet, and a telephone. It is also customary to provide food for the carer, who will typically eat the same meals as the person they support. 

Live-in carers must be present in the home for their entire shift, ready to help when needed, including overnight. Their active working hours average around 12 hours per day. They are entitled to a 2-hour break each day and a rest period for sleep, which should not be disturbed more than twice except in an emergency. 

Yes. Unity Plus engages providers who supply qualified and vetted carers.  We ensure they have clear, enhanced DBS disclosures, a valid right to work in the UK, and have completed the Care Certificate Standards along with any placement-specific training required.  We also conduct our own regular supervisions and spot checks. 

Live-in care works by providing individuals with support and assistance in their homes 24/7, enabling them to remain in a place where they feel safe. This role involves providing support with daily tasks, personal hygiene, assisting with medical needs as required, and helping individuals maintain a higher quality of life. It also allows the individuals the opportunity to build connections with their carers and improve their mental health and wellbeing. 

Live in care is a service where a carer lives in the home with an individual 24/7 providing support and assistance. This allows the individual to remain in their home environment, promoting independence and confidence, while offering essential care when it’s needed most.

PMVA Training takes place over three days.

Day 1: Introduction to PMVA principles, legislation, and recognising early signs of aggression.

Day 2: De-escalation techniques, communication skills, and situational awareness.

Day 3: Safe physical intervention techniques, scenario practice, and final assessment.

There isn’t a dress code for PMVA training. However, we suggest you wear comfortable clothes and supportive footwear. PMVA training courses involve some practical movement, so comfort is key.

Under the Use of Force Act 2018, staff working in healthcare, social care, and education must undertake a PMVA training course to ensure the safety of the individuals in their care. All PMVA training must comply with the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) standards. 

Yes! At the end of your three-day course, you will receive a Level 2 certificate to prove you have successfully passed the PMVA Training course. 

PMVA training typically costs £900 per student, and there is an additional fee to receive your final certifications.

Anyone who may be subject to violent or aggressive behaviours requires PMVA training to help them safely and professionally respond to the situation. This includes:

• Healthcare workers
• Social workers
• Live-in care professionals
• Supported living professionals
• Support workers

When referring a Senior Healthcare Assistant or a Nurse, the person who makes the referrals receives £200 for referring a Senior Healthcare Assistant or £300 for referring a Nurse. The referring individual qualifies for the bonus as long as the person referred completes 10 shifts within their first 12 weeks of employment with Unity Plus. There is no limit to the number of people you refer.

The time taken to get your first shift can vary depending on your role and location, but most staff get a shift within 24 hours.
